I receive revelation best when journaling. It’s one of the many reasons I have so many journals. When I take the time to write down my questions, concerns, and what is going on in my life – I find it easier to ponder and reflect. In those moments, I know that it is just me and the Lord. That He recognizes my efforts to be still and clear my mind. And then as I write, new ideas come to my mind and end up on the paper. It’s hard to explain, but it is an incredible feeling.
Journaling also helps me to refocus. When I am stressed or overwhelmed, a nice big brain dump clears all my thoughts. Then, I write about what I want my focus to be. I visualize as I write and make plans on how to make my ideal mindset a reality. Think of it as glorified goal setting. haha.
Gratitude! Another big one. Do you take time to really think about what you’re grateful for? President Nelson’s #givethanks challenge was eye-opening for me to say the least. It made me constantly aware of things throughout the day that I could post about on social media haha. In a good way. Posting about gratitude. I didn’t post all my thoughts, but I did try to write them all down and only posted a few. That week was so much better for me! And I love going back to read my gratitude-filled thoughts.
These are just a few of the reasons journaling helps me to bea better member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
By opening my mind and heart to revelation, refocusing on what is truly important, and seeing life through a lens of gratitude – I truly do become a better follower of Jesus Christ. (Now to just make it consistent! 😉
